All members welcome, It is a great way to get to meet others in the club, find out what the club has been doing and what it has planned for the forthcoming year. There are many committee roles and members will be voted in on the night, List of current roles below.

Buffet food is available during the meeting if pre-ordered in advance. Please see menu choices and place your order with me by Friday 26th Oct midday and then pay on the evening:

I would like to invite you on behalf of KitBrix for mulled wine (or soft drink) at the KitBrix LIVE Event at Rockets & Rascals Tuesday 5th December (1815-2000).

Cherie Pridham is the only women managing a team at UCI Continental level in the British Cycling scene. Cherie has ridden for European teams, including the Swiss based Mazza Team and now takes on the challenge of a new team for the 2018 season.

She has also competed with distinction in seven Tour de France Féminen races (Women’s Tour de France). She finished the race all seven times and gained the ‘Most Combative Rider’ award on two occasions. In 2004 Cherie was invited to ride for a top French ladies team, ES Gervais Lilas based near Paris, and was placed 6th whilst competing with the team in the GP le Pré Saint Gervais race.

Accredited marshal course

Accredited Marshal course (South Region)

British Cycling are growing our team of Accredited Marshals in 2018. This is your chance to become part of our team. A trainee Accredited Marshal course will be taking place for the South Region on Saturday 10th March 2018 at The Royal Chase Hotel, Shaftesbury from 09:30-13:30. British Cycling plans to utilise the Accredited Marshal Scheme in 60% of its regional road races across the country in 2018, with the backing of almost 80% of the nation’s police forces – further safeguarding the future of the sport. The ‘Stop! Cycle Race’ sign, which features in the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions document, allows British Cycling trained marshals to legally stop and hold traffic to allow the safe passage of a cycle race. British Cycling’s director of cycling, Jonny Clay, said: “The Accredited Marshal Scheme is playing a vital role in ensuring that road races are safe for all involved: riders, the race convoy and other road users. This is your chance to join the team and make road racing safer.

Following the course you are required to attend and trainee marshal at 5 events in order to complete the training and become accredited, ideally within a year. Following successful completion of training you are asked to attend a minimum of 5 races a year, get a free Bronze membership or the value off a higher level of membership, and get a waterproof jacket. You can claim 20p per mile for travel expenses to and from an event as soon as you have attended the training course.

AMS is vitally important to the future of road racing, increasing safety for the riders and the public, and improving the reputation of races in local areas. Your support will be key in this, having the lawful authority to stop traffic at a junction with a designated sign enables the race to pass safely and professionally through. Film company looking for cycling enthusiasts


Lovelove Films are looking for cycling enthusiasts for a cycling advert being filmed at a green screen studio in Bournemouth  on Thursday 18th May, from 9am to 6pm. We would need each person for approximately an hour and will be booking in slots.

We have been commissioned by Cycling UK to create an TV advert for Bike Week UK – a great charity that encourages people to get outside and enjoy cycling!

Ideally, cyclists would be able to provide their own bikes and cycling equipment, including helmets. We welcome people of all ethnicities, diversities and disabilities.

Each cyclist would be required to cycle on a fixed bike setup in front of a green screen. (Your bike will be mounted to a bike trainer)

The roles we are looking to fill include:

  • 1 x BMXer (any age/gender)
  • 1 x cruiser cyclist (any age/gender)
  • 3 x road rider (male, 20-60 – road bikes)
  • 1 x mountain biker (any age/gender)
  • 1 x disabled Lady or Man (20-50)
  • 1 x older cyclist (any gender, 60+)
  • 1 x father character cyclist (male, 30+)
  • 1 x mother character cyclist (female, 30+)

The location of the shoot is The Picture House, 309-315 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth, BH8 8BX (just up from Asda Bournemouth).

South Youth team announcement

Please see below information from BC South regarding 2017 inter regional racing


Following on from the very successful Inter-Regional Championships this year, the South Youth Work Group want to increase the opportunity for all Youth A and B riders (born between 2001 and 2004) in road, track and MTB disciplines to make the most of training events (known as “South Days”) – these proved very popular this year and it is the intention to keep with this format in 2017 with a published programme.

Although no dates have yet to be released a list of the registered events for selecting riders for the UK School Games and the Inter-Regional Championships will also be published very shortly. The main factor for selection will be National Series points, but in addition national and regional specific events will be taken into consideration, together with performances in races when competing against other South Region riders. As before, all teams for each of the three disciplines will consist of up to 4 boys & 4 girls, with each event having one boy and girl nominated as a non-travelling reserve.

Additionally, the Region has been given the opportunity to enter two teams of 4 (Boys Youth A and Girls Youth A&B) to compete in the Scottish Cycling Youth Tour of Scotland (7-10 April).

The event is by invitation only and is a fantastic opportunity to experience team racing in a stage race with convoy support on closed roads in and around Perthshire. Individual costs are: entry fee per rider (which includes full board accommodation and all meals at Strathallan School) £219; and an additional fee of £180 for each Team Manager or accompanying parent. As this does not form any part of the Inter-Regional Championships there is limited scope to what degree the Region can contribute financially, but the Youth Work Group will be asking the Regional Board to consider some form of contribution toward transport and fuel costs. Anyone wishing to be considered for selection for either of the teams and whose parents are happy to cover the entry fee cost should forward their name and date of birth (by 29th January) to:

Inter-Regional Youth Championships

For planning purposes provisional dates for each of the Inter-Regional Youth Championships have now been released.

MTB Cross Country (XC): 25 – 27 August (competition starts 26 August) at Newnham Park, Plymouth, Devon.

Road (UK School Games): 30 Aug – 03 September (competition starts 01 September) at Loughborough University, Leicester.

BMX: 09 – 10 September at National Cycling Centre, Manchester.

Track: 22 – 24 September (competition starts 23 September) at Newport Velodrome, Wales.

The dates have been selected to give sufficient time to select riders through National & Regional events, along with National Championships, and to de-conflict with GCSEs. The South Youth Work Group will release selection criteria and observed events shortly and for those volunteers wishing to be considered for either Team Manager or Team Coach for a specific discipline, please send your applications to: by Wednesday 01 February 2017.

Please Note: when selected, the Road Team Manager for the UK School Games will be required to attend an Orientation Day on 17 July 2017 at Loughborough University.
