Reef ride being organised by CTC 17th June from Wimborne.

Please see below email received from Mike Walsh from the CTC about a ride they are organizing in June from Wimborne

We invite you and your fellow members to join us on one of two free new rides.  Maybe an on-road for your juniors.  The Reef Rides will take place on the 17th June 2018.  Both rides start and finish at the Reef Youth and Community Centre, Colehill Lane, Colehill, Wimborne Dorset BH21 7AB.

There are two rides to choose from the The Half Reef approximately 30 miles or the The Reef  approximately 60 miles. Both rides are predominantly on quiet country lanes heading out towards Cranborne and Tisbury respectively.

The Half Reef is a pleasant ride, relatively flatter terrain, suitable for novices, youngsters or those getting back to cycling.

The Reef is a classic route with a few hills for interest.

A route sheet will be provided for your chosen ride and Garmin downloads for both rides are available on WWW.WESSEXCTC.ORG.

There will be no organised refreshment stops or support en-route therefore participants must be self-sufficient in all respects after leaving the centre.  The rides do however pass through country villages where refreshments may be available.

Entrants can sign in from 08.30hrs and commence at any time. The event will close at 18.00hrs. Refreshments will be available at the start and finish, all entrants signed in and out on completion will receive a complimentary tea, coffee or cold drink.

The Reef Rides are free to enter; none CTC members are most welcome.

Do cycle safe on whichever ride you choose and enjoy the gift of cycling.

There is ample free parking on site.

The Reef Rides are not a race. Please be courteous to other road users and enjoy these great rides.

Regards

Saturday 17th February Cycling Weekly Ride

This ride is open to all (paid up members! Theres still time to join the club!!) Poole Wheelers. Please wear your PW kit – which will look fantastic! This is a social ride which will allow people to regroup at the top of hills etc where needed. We are expecting a large turnout so it will be important to split into smaller manageable groups on the road, to allow cars to get passed etc. The full route goes from Sandbanks ferry, Studland Hill, Swanage, langton Matravers hill, Kingston, Corfe Castle, Steeple Hill, down Whiteways, East Lulworth, Wareham, Sandford, Morden, Wimborne

We will be finishing in Wimborne at “The Cafe in the Square” at approx 11.30 where the Committee have unanimously voted to buy a coffee for every member!

Please can you indicate if you are planning to come and which ride option you will be choosing. Lets hope for a fantastic sunny day! Please comment below with Option 1 full, Option 2 medium or Option 3 Wimborne – so we have some idea of numbers

Option 1 (full route approx 43 miles) – Ride Leader Craig

Meet 8.45am @  Sandbanks ferry (9am crossing). If anyone wants a coffee first then meet at the Goat, Lower Parkstone  from 8am

Option 2 (Medium route) – Ride leader Richard

Meet 8.45am @ Sandbanks ferry (9am crossing). As per Option 1. However this group will miss out the Swanage/Kingston/Steeple parts by going straight up Studland Hill, over the top to Corfe Castle, through Arne and then continue with the main route at Wareham

Option 3 Wimborne Group – Ride leader Graham

Meet outside “The Cafe in the Square” at 10.45 –  Leave Wimborne square @ 11am. Cycle along Cowgrove and meet the other riders around Sturminster Marshall, Mill Lane, Dullar Lane area

Membership – Time to renew.!

Hi Everyone,

Its time to renew your Poole Wheelers Membership (Sorry)
If you joined after 1st Sept your membership runs through to the end of 2018 so you are OK – All members should have had an e-mail today.

Over the last 12 months the club has really grown and gone from strength to strength in so many ways and we hope you do want to continue your membership of the club.

Costs are Senior £20 Junior (U18) or Youth (U16) £10 or Family £30.00 – Second Claim £5.00 A Bargain I’m sure you agree.

The easier way to renew is through the British Cycling Web site – https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile/1260/poole-wheelers-cc
( In the e-mail sent to all members earlier today was an attached guide on how to use this system if you have not done so before) – If you need any help with this do get back to me.

To use this system you will need your current Poole Wheelers membership number – will be on your 2017 membership card if you don’t have this just drop me an e-mail and I will forward it on to you. If you are a British Cycling member it will be the same as your BC membership number.

I know in doing it this way it will cost you another £1.00 – but it does allow you to update all your details and select which e-mails – if any you want to receive from the club. It also is a great help to me and Ros our treasurer as the money then gets paid straight into the club account.
If for any reason to can’t or don’t want to pay this way they is always cash or cheque that can be given to Ros or myself.

Remember the club is run by the members for the members so if you have any ideas or are able to help please do come forward, lots of people doing a little is so much better than a few doing a lot.

I hope you all do rejoin and I look forward to seeing you all out on your bikes in 2018

If you are not yet a member but want to join you can use the same link to do so.
